CPD plays a key part in a fire engineer’s career. Members can access free CPD through our online CPD Hub, which will not only look great on your CV but will ensure you are keeping your knowledge up to date.

As a fire engineer you will be learning for life. MyCareerPath® helps you keep track of your professional development, and will come in handy if you are required to provide evidence of CPD.

Professional registration


It’s never too early in your career to start thinking about professional registration. Achieving professional registration sets you apart from other engineers in your sector and shows your commitment to maintaining professional standards. It could also lead to improved career opportunities, employability and earning potential.

You don’t necessarily need to have several years of work experience and be working in a senior role to become professionally registered. Engineering Technician (EngTech) is achievable for many young engineers who have two years of work experience and suitable qualifications that are level 3 or above.
