After graduating with an undergraduate degree in forensic science (specialising in fire safety engineering) and a PhD in fire and materials, Parina began her career working at the International Tin Research Institute managing the company’s input into the EU-funded ENFIRO project which looked into investigating the feasibility of replacing brominated systems within the consumer electronics industry with halogen-free flame retardants. Parina then went on to join International Fire Consultants as a fire safety engineer joining their product development team, specialising in the testing and assessing of passive fire protection.
In 2015, Parina broadened her fire engineering experience with Arup, working in both their London and Manchester offices developing fire strategies for a range of building and sector types. Parina currently works as an Associate at Design Fire Consultants.
Parina’s experience ranges through the building lifecycle from concept design, construction and handover and right through to expert witness work. As a result, Parina is a true believer in fire engineering involvement from start to finish. She is a Chartered Engineer, has 12 years’ experience as a fire engineer and has worked on several landmark projects including the Palace of Westminster, London Crossrail, Manchester Town Hall and a variety of commercial, residential and arts and culture developments.
Parina is currently undertaking training to become a member of the IFE Registrants Group which reviews and interviews prospective CEng applicants. She is also a member of the IFE’s Special Interest Group for Heritage Buildings and the IFE’s Women in Fire Engineering Networking Group.
