Professional registration demonstrates to your employers and clients that your competence has been independently assessed and verified, and that you have made a commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD). It proves your attributes and capabilities, with internationally-recognised post-nominals that support your personal progression. The IFE is licensed by the Engineering Council, which is the regulatory body for the engineering profession in the UK and which sets the standards and ethics required for each of the titles below.

Chartered Engineer

A Chartered Engineer develops solutions using new or existing technologies, through innovation, creativity and technical analysis. They may be accountable for systems with significant levels of risk.

Interim Registration CEng

Interim registration is for those who have met the academic requirement for professional registration but have yet to gain sufficient experience in the workplace to meet all of the UK-SPEC standards.

Incorporated Engineer

An Incorporated Engineer maintains and manages applications of current and developing technology, and may undertake engineering design, development, manufacture, construction and operation.

Interim Registration IEng

Interim registration is for those who have met the academic requirement for professional registration but have yet to gain sufficient experience in the workplace to meet all of the UK-SPEC standards.

Engineering Technician

Trained specialists with practical knowledge and the ability to solve engineering problems. They can include; operational firefighters, individuals responsible for fire safety systems and fire risk assessors.
