Fire Risk registration

Fire Risk registration

The IFE operates a Fire Risk Assessors and Fire Risk Auditors register, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your competence to industry standards.

Discover full details of both registers, including background, requirements, benefits of registering and how to apply.

Fire Risk Assessors register

The IFE operates a Fire Risk Assessors register which UK individuals can apply to join. Applicants must demonstrate to a Professional Review Panel that they have suitable education, training and experience in the principles of fire safety and fire risk assessment and this involves submitting examples of their work for evaluation. The IFE is also a member of the Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council which has published national competency criteria with which all applicants to schemes are expected to be familiar.

In parallel with the assessor application, individuals will also need to apply for Engineering Council registration via the IFE if they do not hold this already.

Once approved, successful applicants will have access to the IFE Fire Risk Assessor logo which can be downloaded from MyIFE.

Fire Risk Auditors register

Fire Risk Auditors are employed by enforcing authorities. They enforce legislation but do not carry out fire risk assessments. The IFE has established competency standards against which Fire Risk Auditors can be assessed also and many UK enforcing authorities now have IFE registration in place for their inspecting officers.

To apply to become a registered Fire Risk Auditor with the IFE, please contact the Coordinating Officer within your organisation for further information. Please note that this is currently a UK based scheme.
