IFE launches new strategy

The IFE has launched its new strategy ‘Leading Fire Safety’, which aims to inspire excellence through knowledge, professional standards and collaboration.

The strategy outlines the institution’s long-term aims putting its members at the heart of its purpose. As well as setting out the IFE’s priorities, the strategy empowers members to influence how fire safety is understood and managed, ensuring they play a key role in driving necessary change.

A collaborative process

The new strategy was formulated following a membership survey and a series of engagement sessions held with members and external representatives.

Split over two phases, the strategy consultation process gathered feedback from around the world. Phase 1 saw the engagement sessions receive over 500 items of feedback and data from members and external organisations representing 25 different worldwide branches. In the analysis process of the phase 2 sessions, nearly 600 items of additional feedback and data were received from IFE members, further increasing the international representation to 32 different worldwide branches.

Strategic priorities

Following the consultation period, four key themes were written to encompass the findings and form the base of the IFE’s strategy. This includes skills, development and innovation; trust and reputation; organisational sustainability and engagement; and global influence and advocacy.

IFE Chief Executive, Steve Hamm, comments: “We are delighted to start the new year with the launch of our strategy. This was a huge project for 2024 and the result will address the challenges our sector faces from climate change impacts and built environment developments, to diversity and inclusion challenges and the increased fire safety responsibilities.

“As the global professional body for fire safety, we will support our members through communication, qualifications, learning opportunities and resources, and professional standards to overcome these challenges, and we hope this strategy empowers them to navigate and influence our sector.

“With the strategy in place, we now turn our attention to its required outputs and regular updates about these projects will be issued to the membership through the IFE’s communication channels.”
