IFE Norfolk and Suffolk branch are hosting a one hour CPD accredited event on BS 9991: 2024 – Fire safety in the design, management and use of residential buildings, has recently been revised, with the previous 2015 version withdrawn with immediate effect. The CPD will provide an overview of some of the key changes, such as: scope limitations, limitations on single stair residential buildings, reduction in threshold height for sprinklers, inclusion of care homes, recommendations for evacuation lifts, recommendations for smoke control systems.
Speaker, Adam, is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers, with 10 years of industry experience having initially gained a Master’s Engineering degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of Sheffield. Adam has experience in developing fire strategies for complex buildings within various sectors across the UK and internationally, and is a Director at Trigon Fire Safety: an independent fire engineering consultancy.
Adam will be joined by Katherine Burgum, Fire Engineer at Delta Fire Engineering Ltd. Katherine has recently graduated the University of Central Lancashire with an MEng in Fire Engineering. For her undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, Katherine focused on an experimental study into wildfire mitigation strategies to be used in the UK. She has a strong interest in the behaviour of wildfires and the effect they can have on people, property, and the environment.
