Throughout the last 25 years, Nick has operated at the top of fire and rescue service organisations, including fire and rescue services, inspectorates, the private sector and within charities. In his previous work with the National Fire Chiefs Council, Nick was a member of its Senior Leadership Team, responsible for developing National Operational Guidance and creating and managing the Central Programme Office.
Nick is familiar with the concept of a charity for the public benefit and to meet the legal requirements set out for this. He is clear about the need for achievable charitable objectives and for those in positions of governance to be able to ensure that the charity works within them.
Nick’s background and particular passions are in developing and improving competence and professionalism across the international fire sector. He sees a growing role for the IFE in this area and an opportunity for the organisation to move into a hugely influential position in raising and assuring standards and, in doing so, reducing fire and related risks across the globe.
