Interim Registration IEng

Interim Registration for IEng

Interim registration is available to those in the initial professional development stage of a career in engineering. If you have achieved a qualification that is accepted for Incorporated Engineer registration but have yet to gain sufficient experience in the workplace to meet all of the UK-SPEC standards, then interim registration is an important step for you.

Attaining Interim Registration for IEng demonstrates your commitment to your career and the profession and confirms that you have completed learning that provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding for your chosen professional title.

Once you have built up sufficient experience (5 years is indicative) then your application for full Incorporated Engineer status will be streamlined.

Benefits of becoming an Interim Registration for IEng:

  • Demonstrate that you are a professional and competent engineer
  • Boost confidence and trust amongst customers, colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Cement your professional recognition
  • Enhance career prospects and earning potential
  • Access IFE special interest groups
  • Access additional resources and events from IFE

The assessment standards for Interim Incorporated Engineer also satisfy the requirements for Associate grade of IFE membership. You can therefore apply for Interim IEng registration and Associate (AIFireE) via a single application. If you are looking to become Interim registered as an Incorporated Engineer, please apply for this rather than applying for Associate alone. A successful Interim application will attain Associate membership automatically.
